USA Lacrosse Membership - What you need to know

What is USA Lacrosse?
USA Lacrosse is the national governing body of lacrosse in the United States. Think of it as the umbrella organization that sets the rules, establishes safety standards, and supports programs like ours at every level - from first-time youth players to the U.S. National Team. Their mission is to inspire participation, enrich the athlete experience, and support the growth of the sport.
Start Here: USA Lacrosse Membership
Playing lacrosse with Georgetown Youth Lacrosse starts with registering with USA Lacrosse. It's a quick, annual process that protects your player, our coaches, and our entire program, and it's required before you can register with any lacrosse program. Here's what you need to know.
Why is it Mandatory?
Georgetown Youth Lacrosse is an official USA Lacrosse affiliated program. That affiliation comes with a non-negotiable requirement: in order for a team or league to be covered by USA Lacrosse's General Liability and Excess Liability insurance policies, all players and coaches must be currently registered members.
That coverage protects your player, our coaches, our volunteers, and GYL as an organization.
Your player cannot participate in GYL practices or games without an active USA Lacrosse membership on file.
During registration, you will be required to include your USA Lacrosse membership number.
What Does Membership Cost?
USA Lacrosse membership is priced by role.
- Youth players age 22 and under pay $35 per year
- Coaches pay $60 per year
Registration is annual, and your renewal date is the last day of the month in which you originally joined. A lapsed membership means your player or coach cannot participate until it's renewed.
Beyond the insurance coverage that makes your player eligible to play, membership also includes a subscription to USA Lacrosse Magazine, access to exclusive training resources and instructional videos, playing opportunities, and discounts through the USA Lacrosse Shop.
How to Register
New and renewing members can register securely online at usalacrosse.com/join
Save your membership number. You will need it every season when you register with GYL. Your membership number appears above your name on all mailings from USA Lacrosse, including your magazine label.
You can also log in to your account at usalacrosse.com to look it up anytime.
A Note to Returning Families
USA Lacrosse membership runs on an annual cycle. It does not automatically roll over with your GYL registration. Check your renewal date before each season and make sure your membership is current before completing your GYL registration.
If your membership has lapsed, your player will not be cleared to participate until it's renewed.
